What Apollo Is All About

The air temperature in Kajaani is currently somewhere around 24 °C and the air in our office is unbearable. Someone has to fix the damn air conditioning! It was quite the opposite in January when we first started the project that would, multiple roadblocks and detours later, become Wub Wub Apollo.

The core idea of Wub Wub Apollo is to combine runner platforming with the power of Rock 'n' Roll - optionally EDM if you're into that kind of stuff - to create an organic and unique adventure. Balancing between two drastically different genres that are platformer and rhythm games has been one of the biggest challenges during the development. This is a topic that will be sorted out later on in this blog. Bottom line is that we want to highlight platforming action and support it with groovy elements from rhythm games (e.g. multiplier system) while making sure that every action the player is supposed to make matches the beat of the music.

What gives Wub Wub Apollo it's meat is the level generator that we're currently working on - also a topic that will be covered later on in detail. With this tool players can fulfill their lifelong dreams of jumping and sliding to the beat of their favorite tracks!

Aside from game design and programming stuff this blog will also cover artsy topics from animations to environment creation to conceptualization as well as overall updates, bad puns by the producer and ridiculous mishaps during the development.
